Yes, of course.

Climate change is serious and it's already causing political instabilities, as will the massive movement of wealth out of fossil fuel regions. Climate related migration will be a big problem too.

We've certainly wasted a lot of time and money and so will have to spend a lot more money and energy fixing the root causes and adapting to climate change than would otherwise be the case.

But in 30 years or so we'll be at or near peak population. Stuff like agrigenetics which is just starting to displace fertilizers will be well advanced, and drone seeding and spraying with low-carbon electricity will be ubiquitous. Most ground transportation will be electrified. We'll be well down the road to an actually circular economy, although not at the end of that journey.

It's going to be ugly, but humans are techno cockroaches. As a race, humans will be fine. Society will suffer dislocations, but it won't end. The economy will be battered and bruised, but it will still be here.
