Wind farms killed one in 86,000 birds in the USA in 2014, while humans caused the death of one in 10 birds overall, mostly due to lit windows at night, cats, transmission lines and moving vehicles. Wind turbines take up 1% of the land when integrated with farmland and 2% when in non-farmed areas. The biggest threat to species is global warming, which renewables are a direct response to. Renewables don’t have a huge impact on land use and species protection, quite the opposite.

As for nuclear, I’m in favor of what we have continuing, but it’s too expensive, too slow to build and inflexible. Any dollars spent on new nuclear reduce the speed with which we decarbonize the grid to our detriment.
