Well, part of it is that I block idiots and delete their comments. It's negative for my engagement stats, but positive for actually having productive and valuable comments instead of ones that eliminate the value of the article.

A study a few years ago found that uselessly critical — not productive and constructive criticism — comments led to the entire point of the article being turned negative on the entire domain. Negative comments just make everyone less motivated and more negative about solutions. So I curate my comments and commenters.

Still, I'm not exactly a viral household name, so comments are relatively low regardless. I get more on LinkedIn and CleanTechnica usually, but not an unmanageable number.
