My position, established after reviewing nature-based and technically based solutions in detailed years ago, and confirmed with more analyses like this one, is that nature-based solutions scale and non-nature based ones don't.
Lots of trees, return to grasslands, lots more coastal wetlands. Shift to low-tillage agriculture to stop the disruption of the glomalin pathway to long-term soil carbon capture.
Continuing to bring the last billion of rural poor out of poverty and mostly into cities will remove calorie stripping subsistence farmers from the land. That will allow semi-arable land to rewild and permit afforestation.
Put aside all mechanical direct air capture until we have mostly stopped emitting greenhouse gases and have lots of low carbon electricity, probably after 2050.
Pathways to 2050 that depend on DAC are dead ends.
