It’s a nuance. At present, conservatives have much greater authoritarian tendencies than liberals and progressives. I agree that there have been authoritarian regimes in the past from the left side of the dial, but I am writing from a moment in time.

And yes, there are authoritarian tendencies among some from the left today, but not nearly to the same extent. I stand by the wording, given context.
