I clicked through and read the New Yorker article. I kept waiting for the writer to get to the 80% of people actually threatened by this, as opposed to the affluent people being stupid and petty. Crickets. Perhaps it was a conscious choice.

The US southwest, like southern Florida, is becoming increasingly untenable for the people who provide services to these affluent and privileged idiots.
