For transportation, green hydrogen is at very best three times the cost per unit of energy as battery electric. Battery electric vehicles are also simpler and the skills required to be able to certify to repair them are much more common as well. As a result, they are cheaper to maintain as well. Cebon also got solid number for fuel cell truck purchases and found that they were much more expensive than equivalent battery electric vehicles from the same OEM.

More expensive to buy, more expensive to operate. Who wouldn't sign up for that?

Heat pumps, because they get three units of energy from the environment for every unit of electricity, are six times cheaper to operate for heat than using hydrogen.
