Fairly equally badly, but with less deeply embarrassing statements by their CEO.

Toyota is trying to do anything except electrify. BMW has wasted a tremendous amount of time and continues to with a hydrogen effort with Toyota.

The Stellantis M&A brand stable is fading and Tavares isn't being renewed, so who knows. The Chinese JV might be their only saving grace if they start applying legacy western brands to Chinese EVs for import to the west, and potentially build western factories with the Chinese tech to get around tariff silliness, although that won't help with the new and sillier electronics block.

VW had an opportunity with the existential threat of DieselGate to pivot well, but failed mostly to do so, and isn't moving nearly fast enough.

All western brands are in decline in China and in the West at present.

A few will survive as more than nostalgia mostly domestic market plays, or as western brands slapped on Chinese tech. VW and GM have a shot.
