Actually, it's only in NREL labs that they've approximated diesel flow rates for gaseous hydrogen. Commercial hydrogen pumps currently available have 60 to 90 minute refill times for the hydrogen required for long-haul trucking, and it's unclear to me if the NREL set up is fiscally and operationally feasible for large scale commercial deployment.
Of course, for battery weight, all it takes is one doubling of battery energy density for the Tesla Semi to be load competitive with big diesel rigs, and CATL started shipping a production battery with twice the energy density of Tesla's batteries this year.
